  • Mountain bikers pay for Chequamegon trail building
The Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival and other mountain biking events have bankrolled a substantial amount of the singletrack that now exists in the Chequamegon area, nearly 90 miles worth, according to the Chequamegon Area Mountain Bike Association, which began building singletrack in 1999.
  • Leashing licensed cyclists
A new UCI rule will force riders to choose between sanctioned events, such as races in the Wisconsin Off Road Series (WORS), and nonsanctioned, grassroots events in the upper Midwest, like the Chequamegon 40 or Ore to Shore Mountain Bike Epic. The penalty for violating the rule is one month’s suspension and a fine of $66 to $132.
