  • Volunteers ready Minnesota’s Banadad ski trail for snow
Volunteers logged more than 252 hours in October preparing the Boundary Water Canoe Area’s longest wilderness tracked ski trail.
  • The North Lakeland Discovery Center, a nonprofit nature center located in Manitowish Waters in northern Wisconsin’s Vilas County, recently opened a new silent sports trail system: the WinMan Trails.
  • Quit your grumbling over grooming
Because I know there are people like Johnsrud and Welsch throughout the state busting their butts on their own time and own dime to groom trails that enhance my life, I’m not particularly tolerant of skiers who whine about the quality of the grooming or about having to pay a trail fee or buy a state sticker.
  • When snow blankets the Sleeping Bear Dunes
Lower Michigan's Sleeping Bear Dunes is a favored biking, camping, hiking and paddling destination. Once the snow comes, we return with skis and snowshoes.
  • Munising, Mich., welcomes ski campers
The last couple years our ski camp has been in the Munising, Michigan, area where we explore the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in the heart of winter.
  • Sheboygan skiers to get park access during Christmas lights display
The Rotary Club proposal asked to expand Making Spirits Bright through mid-January, which could have impacted a third of the ski season.
