Telemark Resort closes again
The employees of Telemark Resort in Cable, Wisconsin, were told on March 25 the resort was closed indefinitely, according to Cable Area Chamber of Commerce Director James Bolen.
But in the same article on BusinessNorth.com that quoted Bolin, Telemark Resort General Manager Robin Bucholz said the facility closed only temporarily for cleaning and maintenance and would reopen this month. Bucholz said the resort also went through a temporary closure a year ago.
Telemark was closed completely from May 2010 to January 2011. In 2011, Steve Kaufman of Telemark Partners purchased the property, which includes the 240,000-square-foot lodge and 1,000 acres.
Bucholz told the website that Kaufman and three Twin Cities-based investors have a purchase agreement but financing is yet to be secured.
Earlier this year, the resort was featured on an episode of the reality TV show "Hotel Impossible." Tension between the current owner and the management was evident on the program. Although the show ended with a remodel of the lobby and installation of a new computer system, the long-term financial security of the facility was not resolved.
