NOVEMBER IS 'TURKEY TROT' TIME
Mom, apple pie and a Thanksgiving Day footrace. The latter is joining the list of beloved American
traditions as the number of "turkey trots" in November proliferate. Besides, a Thanksgiving Day run is
probably the best way to counter the calories in all that apple pie mom piles on our plates this time of year.

MINNESOTA SKINNYSKI SERIES EXPANDS TO SIX RACES
After a successful inaugural season last winter, the Minnesota Skinnyski Series (MiSSeries) has expanded.
The 2007 MiSSeries will feature six races, including two classical format events. The new events to MiSSeries include the 22-kilometer Seeley Hills Classic held on the Birkie Trail in
northwestern Wisconsin and the 25-kilometer Governor's Cup in Little Falls, which features one of central Minnesota's best trail systems. The now 25-kilometer City of Lakes Loppet Hoigaard's Classic will also be
featured this year. In conjunction with the six-race format, MiSSeries is moving to a best four out of six race-scoring system.
To officially kickoff the 2007 MiSSeries, citizen skiers Jenni Mead and Amy Wyman roller skied the 156 kilometers (about 96 miles) – the full length of the entire MiSSeries – in one weekend.
Mead and Wyman, who sometimes answer to Meadman, started their adventure in Mora, Minnesota, on September 29. Paralleling the distances and techniques in this year's MiSSeries events, the Meadman Team
skate-skied 35 kilometers in Mora, 25 kilometers in Little Falls, 25 kilometers in Bemidji, 24 kilometers in Biwabik and then classic skied 22 and 25 kilometers respectively in Seeley and Minneapolis.
The MiSSeries Series races • Jan. 13, 2007: Seeley Hills, 22K classical. The largest classic-only event in the Midwest is run on the American Birkebeiner Trail.
